the ACER is SIMILAR as LG CD-RW CED 8080B. The one in is Lucky Gold. the latter has a cd-rom and has to be updated at ROXIO also. you need to have an account there, $0, and ECDC was updated from 4.02 to 4.05. DCD is also on the same site from 3.02 to dcd_305-up and UDF reader can also be updated too but my motherboard will not allow sounds. Both are different in the rear, the burner from COMPAQ is on one CD; the acer (Roxio) has a dos floppy that is run from DOS Command Line (ver.V2.4) with a CD ECDC4.02 AND DCD3.01a. tHER ARE 4 PINS ON THE ACER, COMPAQ HAS 2 SETS OF 2 PIN SLOTS. ACER, GOES TO A SOUND CARD, BUT I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE COMPAQ, IT MUST BE ON THE MOTHERBOARD. I'M THINKING OF GETTING A CD-ROM AND PUTTING MINE IN AND BUYING A SOUND CARD. Darrell
