IGNORE MY PREVIOUS SUBMISSION (doesn't fully work) AS THIS ONE WORKS UPON TESTING.
If you have a sony vaio pcga-cd51 pcmcia external cd drive and cannot get it to work in DOS then download the file i have submitted - most solutions i have tried haven't worked for me!
i have modified the config.sys file so it loads the drivers everytime! follow the readme and you're set.
there is a readme file which i strongly suggest you read beforehand.
make a bootable floppy disk, then extract the files to the bootable disk (if it asks, overwrite everything by clicking 'yes to all'). make sure the 'config.sys' file i made has been extracted to the floppy.
make your laptop boot from floppy, restart the notebook with the floppy in the drive and the cd-rom in the pc card slot.
there you go - the cd should be accessible in DOS as D:
from there you can run your setup file to install the OS.
good luck!
ps. please leave feedback if you use it.
