after much searching to no avail, i modded this disk myself to get a toshiba satellite 1640CDT with external sony vaio pcga-cd51 pcmcia drive to work using a windows boot disk.

if you extract all the files to (a formatted and clean) floppy disk, then boot to floppy with the cd drive plugged in at boot, it should recognise it and allocate the cd as drive D:

then stick in your windows CD and run setup.
