This universal driver is for almost any CD-ROM device setup, including Sony. INSTRUCTIONS (1) Extract zipped files to a floppy diskette (2) insert the diskette into drive A (3) boot up and IGNORE all error messages (4) when prompted, hit "A" key for Abort then "F" for Fail (or vice-versa). Drive "J" will then be created. Install your OS from drive J. Windows will reassign the correct drive letter after it is installed. NOTE you may first need to run the HD mfr's setup or diagnostic disk to have CMOS recognize the CD-ROM device--e.g., Compaq systems had skimped on firmware, using HD space instead so you had to boot up without the HD connected then connect the HD and reboot to access CMOS. DOS would indicate a floppy drive error, but the floppy drive would recognize a Compaq boot disk). I have used this gem of a driver set to install many, different brands of CD-ROMs. It beats fiddling with the DOS switches in the command line of the batch and sys files...hope it works as well for you. Blessings...
